Terms of Use
Effective date: September 13, 2026
By using Toki you agree to these terms and to Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA), which governs your license to the app. Where these terms add to the standard EULA, both apply.
What Toki is
Toki is an AI speaking coach: you practice a language out loud and the app gives you feedback on pronunciation, grammar, and phrasing, including conversations with an AI partner. AI feedback can be wrong or incomplete — it is a learning aid, not a certified language assessment, an exam score, or professional advice. Pronunciation scores are estimates produced by automated systems and can vary with your microphone, accent, and environment.
Your account
You can use Toki as a guest, or sign in with Apple or Google. Guest progress lives on your device and our servers under an anonymous ID; if you delete the app or switch devices without linking an account, that progress can be lost. You are responsible for keeping access to your sign-in method. One account is for one person.
Toki Premium subscription
Some features require a paid auto-renewable subscription (Toki Premium, and Premium Plus where offered), sold as monthly or yearly plans through the App Store. Where a free trial is offered, payment is charged to your Apple account when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal; manage or cancel any time in your App Store account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
Paid speaking practice is subject to fair use. Toki Premium includes 7 hours of speaking in a rolling 7-day window, with a 3-hour daily burst ceiling. Premium Plus includes 10 hours in a rolling 7-day window, with a 4-hour daily burst ceiling. These limits protect the service from abuse and are set above normal study. Prices can change; you will always see the current price in the App Store before you are charged.
Acceptable use
Do not misuse the app: no attempts to extract API keys or bypass usage limits, no automated or bot traffic, no using the AI conversation for unlawful, harassing, or abusive content, and no reselling access. We may suspend accounts that violate these rules.
Content and ownership
The Toki curriculum, lessons, audio, characters, and app design are ours or our licensors' and are protected by copyright. Your own speech and practice history remain yours; you give us permission to process them to provide the service, as described in the Privacy Policy.
You may create practice situations and choose to publish them to the Toki community. You keep ownership of content you create. You confirm that you have the rights needed to submit it and that it does not violate another person's rights or these terms. By publishing it, you give Toki a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, moderate, display, and distribute that content only as needed to operate and improve the community feature. Private situations are not shown to other learners.
We may review, reject, hide, or remove community content that is unsafe, unlawful, misleading, copied, spam, or otherwise violates these terms. Learners can report a situation and block its creator in the app. If you believe community content infringes your rights, contact us at nvkhoe89@gmail.com with enough detail for us to identify and review it. When an account is deleted, published situations are unlinked and hidden as described in the Privacy Policy; the licence above survives only as needed for retained moderation records and copies already saved by other learners.
Disclaimers and liability
The app is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer law gives you and that cannot be waived.
Changes and termination
We may update these terms; material changes will be noted in the app and take effect from the date posted here. You can stop using Toki at any time and delete your account in Settings. We may terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Privacy
How we handle your data — including how your practice audio is processed and discarded — is described in the Privacy Policy.
